BABY NO.3: Pregnancy photoshoot

I've never been big on pregnancy photoshoots, but when your best friend (Maddie) is one of Melbourne's finest photographers and says she has a spare day - you say yes!

I thought a shoot at 36 weeks would be really hard but Maddie made it fun for the whole family. Playing RnB tunes on her portable speaker and keeping us all laughing with her quirky sense of humour- she was able to catch “real smiles” that really showed off our family spirit.

When Maddie asked if I knew where I wanted to do the shoot, I freaked out a bit. It’s so hard to pick a place that will look cool and original instead or boring or cliché. Luckily Maddie knows all of Melbourne’s secret hot spots and was able to not only find a beautiful place, but also one with “the right colours and lighting” making our shoot “Vogue worthy” haha.

 Theme and Style:

My inspiration was Romantic but trendy. Sarah Jane Young’s pregnancy announcement with gorgeous Mia Grace was exactly what I wanted to wear. I loved the white lace dress and flower crown she wore. In my shoot, I wanted to wear a lace dress and have the family’s outfits match what I wore "romantic and soft".

As for the theme, we wanted to capture nature and Melbourne’s true seasonal colors as this is a reminder of how beautiful Autumn and the colors that will surround our new baby’s birth.

Location, location:

We initially were thinking of two Locations, both about a 2-hour drive from Melbourne CBD.

Maddie had found one in a field with head tall, long autumn colour grass and the other spot was a pine tree plantation. But 4 hours of travel while I’m this pregnant and thinking of our daughter’s motion sickness, I wanted something closer.

Maddie had visited a winery located in Healesville (one hour out of Melbourne) the week before she kept crapping on how she wanted to do a photo shoot there before the leaves fell…. So that’s where we went… it was magic and we even scored a great pub meal next to a fireplace on the way home.

I'm so excited to now share our favourite pregnancy photo's from the day. I'm truly blessed to have such a supportive husband, healthy and gorgeous kids and can't wait to meet the new addition to our growing family.

Thanks Maddie
